First, of course, is price. A very high-quality above-ground pool, like Trevi pools, can be erected for a fraction of what a similar in-ground would cost.

Secondly, building an above-ground pool will avoid problems experienced by some in-ground projects such as shifting soils, floating (especially true in fiberglass pools), cracks and requirements for re-plastering and remodeling later on.

Third, most in-ground pools require a building permit and when built, they can affect property taxes of a home. An above-ground pool is considered a temporary structure, and as such has no such tax burden.
